Bookworm Extraordinaire and Bailey’s DrinkerI like reading, hiking, daydreaming, nature, watching movies and being a smart-ass, not necessarily in that order. Was a reservist in the United States Navy Seabees. I am also exploring Buddhism and meditation. This has been a challenge for me, as I am a rather hyper person with 2 modes: full-speed ahead or sound asleep. The only exception is when I am reading, which is my favorite thing to do in the entire world.  To say I love books doesn’t seem to adequately describe my relationship with them. 🙂   My tastes have changed over the years, but I remain a die-hard sci-fi/fantasy aficionado.  However, I will pretty much read anything, up to, and including, the backs of cereal boxes and those pamphlets the Jehovah’s Witnesses are always leaving in my front door. Favorite authors include Faith Hunter, Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, Neil Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, Dan Brown, Michelle Sagara, Terry Pratchett, Patricia McKillip, Robert Jordon, Dana Stabenow, Andre Norton, J.K. Rowling, Terry Brooks, James Patterson, Isaac Asimov, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Tad Williams and Dean Koontz.  I have started reading graphic novels in the past few years and really enjoy them.  The artwork is amazing.  My favorite comic artist is Brett Booth.I’ll be posting videos from time to time.  Some of my favorite bands/artists are:  The Black Keys, Imagine Dragons,  Florence and the Machine, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Rise Against, Flogging Molly,  Muse, The White Stripes,  Amanda Palmer, Death Cab For Cutie, Mumford and Sons, Dropkick Murphys, Staind, Blink 182, Eminem, Green Day,  Metric, Disturbed, Evanescence, Nirvana, and the Bravery.

I am a movie nut, so it follows that I’ll also be posting movie trailers and reviews of my favorites, old and new.  Hopefully, you’ll like them, too, and maybe even let me know of some that you really like.:).  Some of my favorites are Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta, The Pirates of the Caribbean series, Star Trek,  Saving Private Ryan,  X-Men, Twilight series, Underworld, Silence of the Lambs,  Hellboy, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Serenity, Constantine,  Forrest Gump, Kill Bill, The Breakfast Club, Casablanca, Avatar, Van Helsing, French Kiss, and on and on and on…

Hiking, boating, and camping are also topics that may pop up in this blog.  They get me out of the city and back to my country roots.  The town I grew up in had 3000 people and it was the biggest town in the entire county.  Everyone knew each other, each others’ kids, dogs, personal problems, who was messing around with whom, etc.  Our high school had “Tractor Day” every May.  Everyone who had one drove it to school. The whole parking lot would be full of John Deeres,  Allis Chalmers and New Hollands.  Back then, I couldn’t wait to move away, to “escape.”  Now that I live in a city, I really miss it.
